"Lazy bags" or "Sail-Packs", etc come in various shapes and fashions nowadays. This attempt of ours was fashioned in 2003, and borrows several features from the different brands at the time, and adds some of our own ideas. It has been a succes, no doubt: The seemingly complicated lifting lines distributes the strain evenly but are still easy to tuck down remotely when the sail is hoisted; the bag's top is opened and closed quickly with the heavy-duty zipper; and the bottom part made of mesh ventilates sufficiently. And most importantly, the flapping sail is caught and flaked without incidents every time!

One thing I shall definitely fix for the next version, though, is easier access to the tack and gooseneck area: it's not necessary to cover the bagged sail completely here anyway, except perhaps for weather protection. Also, the zipper is not watertight (what zipper is?) and the sail now needs a secondary strip of canvas below the zipper to keep (most) of the rain out. But apart from this I would recommend my own design to anyone!

Bomkapell med segelfångare

Segelfångare finns numera av många fabrikat. Den här prototypen gjordes 2003 och var inspirerad av de varianter vi kände till då, med en del egna tillägg. Resultatet blev över förväntan: De till synes komplicerade lyft-linorna fördelar lasten bra samtidigt som de enkelt kan stramas ner från sittbrunnen under segling; kapellet öppnas och stänges enkelt med ett kraftigt blixtlås; underdelens nät-väv ventilerar seglet bra. Men framförallt blir den fladdrande storen infångad utan besvär varje gång!

En sak som skulle kunna göras bättre är åtkomsten till de nedersta travarna och revlöddrorna vid mastliket. Bortsett från väderskyddet kan man klara sig utan kapellduk i detta område.
